"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." - Hebrews 4:12
Before Zach was diagnosed - when I was living life in such a different way - I remember receiving one of those e-mails, you know the kind, the ones that have been forwarded around the world and back again filled with wisdom beyond comprehension. Anyway, something caught my eye in this one, convicted me right where it matters - in my heart. The author of the e-mail was supposed to be God and everything in it was a message from Him. The quote that grabbed me said something like "I've written the biggest best seller of all time. Have you read it?" Since I can remember I have always loved reading and can honestly say I have read hundreds of books, but at that moment I realized I had barely cracked open "the best seller of all time" - the Bible.
My mind would not let that question go over the next few weeks. I wrestled with the thought of one day, standing before God trying to explain why I never found the time to read His Words, but then I would look at the book - LOTS of words and LOTS of pages! All I could think of was the King James Version I had as a little girl with all the thee's and thou's in it. It seemed so confusing and intimidating to me.
My conscious (or should I say God) got the best of me. I grabbed an easier to understand version (NIV) blew the dust off of it and started to read. I was amazed with what I found! Starting in the New Testament, I could literally feel peace wash over my mind as I read the words. I had heard many of them in the sermons I had attended throughout my life, but they meant so much more when I sat down and read them from beginning to end.
Maybe this was one of God's ways of preparing me for what was to come because after Zach was diagnosed and later after he left for Heaven, I was desperate for answers. After reading book after book, searching for peace and hope, it has become clear to me all the answers I was looking for are given in the Bible. It is basically our instruction manual for living life! It holds all the hope we could ever need in the promise of salvation through belief in Jesus Christ!
I have talked to skeptics who cannot believe all the claims made in the Bible- of miracles or the resurrection. Through careful research and investigation, Lee Strobel shows the Bible is the most documented and proven document in the history of mankind in his book The Case For Christ. As more and more archeological discoveries are made, they only reinforce claims made in the Bible. There is no question in my heart it is all true - "As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him." 2 Samuel 22:31. Read the Book and see for yourself!
We hope you find your answers to life's challenges through this Bible and in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He is always waiting and will never leave you. Let's face it there are no true guarantees for our life on earth other than we will all leave our physical bodies one day - Eccl 12:7 "and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it." It is clear, our physical lives will end, BUT our spiritual life will go on forever - you have to ask yourself - which life am I living for now? Am I living for the treasures of the world or the treasures of Heaven?
By accepting Jesus as your personal savior you have the ultimate guarantee of a beautiful eternity surrounded by perfect love, peace, happiness and joy.
- John 5:24 "I assure you, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life."
- John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life."
- Acts 16:31 "Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved."
- Psalm 125:1 "Those who trust in the LORD are as secure as Mount Zion; they will not be defeated but endure forever."
Why not embrace these wonderful promises we have been given while we are here together, love one another and spread the Good News!
